Our Beginnings (1978)
Peter and Helen Lee founded Tamar Valley Roses at Rosevears in 1978, starting with a single greenhouse and a dream to grow exceptional flowers.
What began as a small mixed-crop flower farm soon evolved into a specialist cut-flower rose enterprise.
Global Connections (1985)
In 1985 Peter became the Australian cut-flower agent for renowned French breeder Meilland—creator of famous roses like Peace and Papa Meilland.
This unique partnership still allows Tamar Valley Roses to introduce Australia’s newest rose varieties first.
Retail Blooms & Family Expertise
After completing her floristry apprenticeship—and winning Apprentice of the Year in both Tasmania and Victoria—Megan Lee opened the first Tamar Valley Rose Shop in Launceston in 1998, uniting the growing, wholesaling and retail sides of the family business.
Her brother Andrew soon joined after earning his PhD in science, taking on farm management. Together they blend award-winning floristry with scientific know-how to grow and create exceptional blooms.
Expanding & Evolving
The family opened a second shop in Mowbray in 2002 and a third in Legana in 2013.
Over time they consolidated operations, closing the Mowbray store in 2021 to focus on their larger, modern Launceston flagship store.
Leading the Industry Today
After more than 45 years, Tamar Valley Roses remains a family-owned Tasmanian leader in cut-flower production.
With continuous innovation and a deep love of roses, the Lee family and their dedicated team supply beautiful blooms and thoughtful floral gifts for every occasion.
